This page lists recent improvements we have made to Studio Helper, including new features and bug fixes. We are constantly working to add new features and improve the software to meet the needs of our members. If you have suggestions for how we can improve, don't hesitate to let us know.

Studio Helper Improvements since July, 2008

  • 2008-12-26: BugFix: Fixed a new bug where teacher's phone numbers weren't saving.
  • 2008-12-22: Feature: Added link to add "New [person]" on the sidebar when editing an existing person (or just after saving a new person).
  • 2008-12-22: BugFix: The date at the top (in the header) will now adjust according to the selected time zone and date format.
  • 2008-12-19: Feature: Added a "View" link next to the payments listed on the "money" tab of a student or parent's profile.
  • 2008-12-19: Feature: Added a "New Payment" link on the "money" tab of a student or parent's profile.
  • 2008-12-18: BugFix: The "Students" tab on the teacher profile was sometimes not showing the list of students. This has been fixed.
  • 2008-12-18: BugFix: When making changes to an existing invoice, if you e-mailed the invoice at the same time you made the changes, the e-mail was showing the information from old invoice. This is now fixed.
  • 2008-12-17: Feature: Added a "Remember Me" option to the login form, to keep you logged in.
  • 2008-12-17: Feature: Added a "Teacher" view to the calendar. This allows you to more easily compare teachers' schedules by showing each teacher in their own column. You can choose which teachers you want to compare from the "Teachers" filter on the calendar sidebar.
  • 2008-12-17: Feature: When entering a payment, there is now an option to "Save and Add Another", which will save time if you have several payments to record.
  • 2008-12-17: BugFix: On the calendar, in Firefox, the "Update Filters" link sometimes needed to be clicked twice before it would refresh the calendar. This is now fixed.
  • 2008-12-17: Feature: You can now display extra information on your invoices underneath your studio name. For example, you could show your business tax ID number, or a tagline or slogan. You can edit this under Settings -> Studio Info.
  • 2008-11-27: Feature: Payment Search. You can now search for past payments by client name and date
  • 2008-11-12: Feature: Remote Login and Registration Forms. You can now place a login form on your website to login, rather than using Studio Helper's login page. You can also place a registration form on your studio website so new students can register. For details, see Settings -> Remote Access
  • 2008-11-12: BugFix: A bug existed for a few hours where you couldn't save a user, and would get a message that the username was "available". This has been fixed.
  • 2008-10-29: BugFix: If you try to save a user with a username that already exists, you will now get a warning message.
  • 2008-10-28: Feature: Studio-wide events. You can now create an event without any teacher or student, and it will be visible to all teachers and students in your studio.
  • 2008-10-28: BugFix: Fixed calendar daylight savings time issue, causing duplicate events on November 2nd.
  • 2008-10-24: BugFix: Fixed attendance calculations in Lessons Taught when no student is assigned to an event.
  • 2008-10-13: BugFix: Fixed error when deleting expenses.
  • 2008-10-06: BugFix: Family record wasn't getting deleted even if everyone in the family is deleted.
  • 2008-09-27: Feature: Added Mass Email Functionality from the "People" menu, rather than from the people list. Mass emails are now handled on a separate page from the people list for faster recipient filtering.
  • BugFix: State/Province field now saving properly if country is other than USA.
  • Feature: #246: You can now add your own studio logo, which will appear on the invoices you create and send to your clients.
  • BugFix: Can't delete email template. You can now delete the email templates you have created.
  • Feature: #142: Email Payment Receipts. You can now send an email payment receipt to clients. When creating or editing a payment, just check the box labeled "Email a payment receipt to client".
  • Feature: #308: Customize system email templates. You can now edit the automatic emails that are send out by the system, such as event reminders and payment receipts.
  • BugFix: When students and parents login, they now by default see only their own lessons, and not the lessons for the entire studio.
  • BugFix: Removed calendar in calculations for daylight savings time - they were throwing the calendar dates forward in November and March, rather than keeping them where they should be.
  • BugFix: Fixed calendar so it won't duplicate participants on future events when updating an event.
  • BugFix: Global events now show on the calendar
  • BugFix: When editing invoices, it was showing today's date as the invoice and due dates. Now it shows the original saved dates.
  • BugFix: Fixed showing the top country (Afganistan) as default country when editing a family address.
  • Feature: When logging in, the cursor will now automatically be placed on the "username" box.
  • Feature: New and Improved calendar filters. You can filter by teacher, category, or location with checkboxes. Click "update/refresh" link to update the calendar with your changes. This is must faster than the previous filtering method.
  • BugFix: Default country when creating a user is now set to the country set by the studio administrator under Studio Info.
  • Feature: You can now apply an existing payment to an existing invoice by editing the payment
  • Feature: Now showing category color in calendar filter list
  • BugFix: You can now delete line items from an invoice
  • BugFix: Fixed adding payment page to be less resource intensive with its queries
  • Feature: Admins and staff can now enter attendance by teacher in addition to showing all lessons at once.
  • BugFix: Fixed comment area permissions for events
  • BugFix: Fixed drop down menus so they don't go behind main calendar or mini-calendar in any browser
